The Emused team are grateful for our readers and we have a strict policy when it comes to privacy for our users. We have integrated with many social networks and websites to make it easier to login and interact with our community, but we have done so keeping security and privacy at the highest level possible. Understandably letting a new website access your information can be a tough decision so this Privacy Policy will hopefully relieve any fears of Emused exploiting the information or leaking it to other companies or individuals.
How does Emused collect my personal information?
We offer a variety of ways to connect and places where your information can be transmitted to us. (1) Our main login is run through OpenID. You can login through a number of different social networks, e-mail accounts, and other websites to create a full featured account page in seconds. (2) Submitting your e-mail address to our newlsetter. (3) Posting comments and loggin in through the comment section. (4) Sending us questions, tips, or comments through our contact form. This section is always subject to change as we expand our features.
Analytics software is used to gain information on what browsers our users are using, how long they stayed on our site, their IP location, and which pages they visited. None of this information can be tied back to an individual or their account information.
How Emused uses personal information.
Each different feature that you’ve opted into can be used in different ways:
1. If you subscribe to our e-mail list, you will receive our newsletter and article updates. You can opt out at any time at the bottom of the e-mail. Your e-mail address will never be used for another purpose or sold to other companies for marketing purposes.
2. When you contact us through our contact form, your e-mail will be used only to respond to the inquiry and nothing else.
3. E-mail addresses given when you comment on a story aren’t used for any reason unless we are running a contest or promotion where we would need to contact you in the case that you’ve won.
4. If you use OpenID to comment through one of your other website accounts, none of that information is used and we don’t have any access to your private information.
5. If you’ve connected your e-mail address through your profile, we may contact you when there is activity on your account. You can opt out of these updates at any time.
6. Your e-mail may be shared with, but not limited to Klout and Rapleaf to provide us with analytics and advertising targeting information. None of this information will be shared or sold with any other company. We may use these services to help improve the user experience on our site.
What about the advertisements?
We do display advertising on our site, but those companies never have access to your personal information unless you visit their site and provide it to them. None of these companies will have your contact information unless provided by you. Non-personally identifiable information may be provided to advertisers as a means to provide targeted advertisements. Third party advertisers may recognize or place a unique cookie on your browser, often times to “re-target” past or future visitors to their site. If you feel this use is being abused, please let us know and we will refer you to the proper advertising agencies privacy policy and terms.
Releasing information due to legal action
We take your information and privacy very seriously and we will not release the information unless we receive a court order or subpoena to do so. We reserve the right to release a users information in response to a law enforcement agency’s request, or when we believe illegal actions are taking place. These actions could include, but aren’t limited to fraud, illegal activities, and threats to the physical safety of another person.

Emused is a community website. Any information you provide in your public profile, post throughout the site, or share cannot be controlled by us. Please share information at your own risk. We urge you to think carefully before sharing any information on our site for others to see.
Emused comment and discussion policy.
We don’t censor our users based on their ideological or political views, however we do reserve the right to delete comments if we feel it’s abusive, uses foul language, doesn’t fit the topic, appears to be spam, or is inflammatory to a particular group or person.
Comments generally will not be removed upon request unless we see a valid reason to do so, or if we feel it may cause endangerment to an individual. Please use discretion BEFORE posting a comment. We will also consider removing comments when required by law, or in response to legal action or inquiries from a law enforcement agency.
Comments made on Emused.com need to adhere to the following rules, and could be changed or removed if they are in violation of these rules.
1. Hateful comments: This could be racism, sexism, and homophobic remarks.
2. Foul Language: Comments with excessive use of foul language are subject to be edited or removed.
3. Personal Attacks: We will not tolerate personal attacks, threats or persistent abuse on a particular person or topic. Heated debates are good, but when the comments become hateful or off-topic we may delete them.
4. Repeated Trolling: If we notice or receive reports of a user repeatedly attacking an author, another user, or a specific topic with the sole purpose of disrupting the conversation we may censor that user.
5. Spam: If we feel that a comment is strictly made as an advertisement for another website, a product, or company, we will most likely delete it if it gets by our spam filter.
6. Off-topic comments: When conversations start to get away from the original topic we may delete comments to promote more productive comments and discussion.
7. Flagged comments: When comments are flagged by other users we will look at those comments and make a decision on whether they should be deleted.
